Tartu hosts a varied calendar of plays, concerts, festivals, conferences, and sporting events throughout the year. It is also home to over 20 museums and has been part of the UNESCO Creative Cities network as an International City of Literature since 2015.
In 2024, Tartu was the European Capital of Culture, catching the eye of major publications such as National Geographic Traveller, which called it one of the most exciting destinations to visit.
Culture route is a 2- day route that consists of different places to to see museums, theatre and the city and it´s history while having great food and a nice night of sleep.
The culture route consists of:
Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum
Cultural and creative centre `Aparaaditehas`
Theatre and concert hall “Vanemuine”
Estonian National Museum and park
The route is mapped to be followed on the pedestrian roads. For following the route with a car we suggest using a navigation system where you find the objects by name or address.
