The Žanis Lipke Memorial was built next to Žanis Lipke’s house, where he set up a shelter for Jews rescued from the ghetto during World War II. Before the construction of the museum, the creators of the memorial built a new wood shed for the Lipke family in the same place where the old one with the secret bunker once stood. The memorial attempts to reconstruct as accurately as possible the environment and conditions in which the people Lipke rescued were hiding. The life stories of the rescued and of Lipke are also read and displayed. There is an elevator in the museum. The door to the exit was a rail mechanism and it was heavy. Audio guide in Latvian, Russian and English. The rooms on the second floor of the museum were not well lit, but the display cases of objects were illuminated automatically by a sensor.
