Venstpils Creativity House features both, the planetarium and the observatory. The dome of the planetarium is 8 meters in diameter. The planetarium can simultaneously host a group of up to 40 people. It uses special software, which demonstrates 360 degree films and unique star shows. The duration of one session is 35 – 45 minutes. Duration of the session may vary on the days of events and holidays. The sessions take place every day (except Mondays and additional holidays). The session content is continuously changed in order to keep it interesting for the visitors, and to create a desire to return and discover new secrets of the Universe. Session schedule is available here: https://jaunradesnams.lv/planetarijs/seansu-laiki/. Planetarium is adapted for visitors in wheelchairs. An elevator is available.
The observatory, which is located in the roof of the Creativity House, is equipped with a high quality telescope, which can be used by any visitor to view the Sun, the Moon. It is possible to view the Sun, through special filters during in clear weather conditions, just like professional astronomers. Two filters are used for solar observations – the mirror filter helps to see the sunspots, but with the help of the hydrogen filter we can observe the protuberances and flares of the Sun, if they are observable that day. The observatory is functioning only in good weather conditions and, unfortunately, is not adapted for wheelchair users.
There are some interpretation solutions for people with visual impairment – tangible objects (e.g. planets). Entrance for wheelchair users is from the back of the building, i.a. it is possible to drive in and park the car.
