Tamula Lake’s shoreline is a local favourite for walking, swimming and spending leisure time, and it is also a symbol of Võru. The beach is interestingly designed, contemporary landscaped and tidy, equipped with changing booths, attractions offering a variety of activities. You can play ball games, build in a sandcastle, sunbathe on a lawn or sandy beach. The beach promenade of 800 m starts at the Tamula Hotel and runs to the Roosisaare Bridge. During summer season, safety is taken care of by water rescue.
Description
Designated parking spaces are located in the immediate vicinity of Tamula Hotel. Along the lakeshore, it is possible to move along an edged boardwalk that runs by the water. The beach promenade is paved with cobblestones and has a smooth surface. Benches are placed in various locations on both the left and right sides of the promenade, with and without armrests.
On the beach, there is a children’s play area (towards the west) on a sandy surface, as well as signs and pictures introducing the fish species found in the lake. An accessible access point to the water for people with reduced mobility is planned.
Tactile map and audio-described guidance are found on-site and on Võru City Municipality website.
The nearest accessible toilet by the lakeshore is at Võru Playa (open in the summer months) or at Kagukeskus on the second floor. The toilet was not completed in 2025 (photo to be added). The key for the Kagukeskus toilet must be requested at the information desk on the first floor; the toilets on the first floor are paid.
