Description:
The bathing area infrastructure is adapted for people with special needs. Parking spaces for vehicles of persons with disabilities are provided, and access to the beach is suitable for wheelchair users. At the Vakarbuļļi bathing site, special beach wheelchairs are available. The bathing area offers two portable beach wheelchairs designed to enable swimming for people with mobility impairments, accompanied by an assistant.
These wheelchairs have excellent buoyancy, require no additional tools for assembly, are easily foldable, portable, and stable. The chair is supported by three wide inflatable wheels, which also serve as floats in the water. It is equipped with armrests, can be adjusted to three different seating positions, and has safety belts.
Beach wheelchairs at the mentioned bathing sites are available for public use free of charge. Assistants accompanying persons can obtain the wheelchairs from lifeguards at the beach rescue stations.
Information signs at the bathing area indicate the availability of beach wheelchairs and provide the lifeguard station’s phone number.
The bathing site is located within the territory of the “Piejūra” Nature Park. Grey dunes, as well as embryonic dunes and foredunes, are habitats protected under the European Union.
During the swimming season, a beach rescue service operates here, equipped with first aid and lifesaving equipment. The bathing area also features a children’s playground, water bikes, and the option to rent beach chairs.
Outside the Blue Flag beach zone, on windy days, it is possible to enjoy kitesurfing or windsurfing.
All year round, the beach is perfect for walking and Nordic walking, both along the shoreline and on wooden boardwalks in the dunes.
In summer, beach cafés are open, offering snacks and ice cream.
