In 1899, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the city, in honour of the founder of Riga, Bishop Albert, Prelate Francis Afanasovičs proposed the construction of a new church in Pārdaugava. St. The church was built as a three-nave building, 50 m long and 24 m wide, the largest Catholic church in Latvia, even surpassing the Aglona Basilica in size, and it can accommodate 2500 people. The last section of the ramp at the entrance is difficult to negotiate and there is no enclosure on the left side of the ramp. Without a barrier, there is a risk of wheelchair tipping over. The church building complex also has an office and a parish house.
