The school is considered to have started in 1938, when the all-boys Riga Viesturs Primary School was opened on Lenču Street. It was a municipal school built with money from the Riga City Council. During the Second World War, the school was a military hospital.

It is easy to get into the school, there are no barriers. There are wide aisles. Toilet facilities are not adapted and there is no lift. The school management has requested a diagonal lift. If a pupil is in a wheelchair, they will be taught on the ground floor.
