The National History Museum of Latvia (LNVM) is one of the oldest museums in Latvia and the Baltic region. Following a fire at Riga Castle in 2013, the LNVM’s collection was moved to temporary premises at Lāčplēša iela 106/108, while the permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions were housed at Brīvības bulvāris 32. In the summer of 2024, the museum began its return to the newly renovated southern wing of the oldest part of Riga Castle.
The museum is easily accessible, with an elevator, a chair lift and an accessible restroom. The ramp on the top floor is too steep, so it is recommended to tour the museum with an assistant. Audio announcements about each floor play in the elevator. The coat check has a low hanging rod so that people in wheelchairs can hang up their own clothes. There is also a low counter at the ticket office. The first floor also has an induction loop. Audio guides are available for some exhibits.
