The route is recommended with an assistant.
The route introduces its visitors with the centre of Liepāja city and its surroundings a bit farther – Grobiņa and Kazdanga.
Main objects of interest on the route
Day 1 Walking route Liepāja – Follow the notes 3,5km or 5km, 1-2h. Palmu street might be challenging with a wheelchair due to old brick pavement.
Objects, where visitors can enter with a wheelchair: 17th-19th century Interior Museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House” – entrance from the backdoors (chair-lift available, but assistant recommended due to the historic paving stones’ path surface), Peter’s Market (Pētertirgus paviljons), St. Joseph’s Cathedral (ramp available, but assistant recommended to open the doors), Concert Hall “Great Amber”, Holy Trinity Cathedral (side entrance (is open), a number of thresholds and a bit narrow, but can be accessible).
Accessible WC: at Kurzeme square, at the biking path behind the concert stage “Pūt, vējiņi!”, Concert hall “Great Amber” (“Lielais dzintars”)
Where to eat: Restaurant “Upe” (ramp and automatic doors)
In the evening: visiting a cultural performance at the Concert hall “Great Amber” (small format theatre/concert)
Accommodation: “Amrita” (rooms available for 7 persons using wheelchairs), “Promenade Hotel” (1 room), “Kolumbs ” (1 room), “Superior Class Hotel Līva” (1 room).
Day 2 Grobiņa castle ruins and the Ālande River park path 2,75km one-way, ~ 1,5h, accessible ith an assistant. At Grobiņa Sports Centre – accessible WC and a cafe.
Riga zoo branch “Cīruļi” 1h, accessible with an assistant (WC not adapted)
Kazdanga park path (till the lake boardwalk), 0,6km one-way, 1h. Being in Kazdanga, make sure to pay a quick visit to see also the Kazdanga Manor building (accessible just from the outside).
