The priest of Kambja in the Bishopric of Tartu is first mentioned in 1330. The parish of Kambja is first attested in 1471. The parish is believed to have been founded by a landowner named Camby, who donated part of his estates for the church manor.

During the Livonian War in 1558, the Russians burned down Kambja Church. In 1613 it was rebuilt in stone, but without a roof. At that time, Kambja had no pastor. The church remained in a dilapidated condition, and it was not until 1642 that it was thoroughly restored. Johann Prinz is recorded in 1626 as the first Lutheran pastor.

Description

No separate tactile solutions have been implemented. There are no guiding paths, tactile signs or indicators, nor audible information. There is however texts available outside on boards for reading (no QR-code).

The area around the church has nice views, an open-air gym and a swimming spot which is situated on a sloping riverbank, the swimming area features only a narrow changing room; the rest of the grounds are covered in grass, including the gym. It´s possible to walk around the schoolyard where there is levelled pedestrian roads up to the lake.
