Description:
Route to take with a car to enjoy a slow ride through cozy small coastal villages and the sea views. The route includes few short nature trails on the coast and several boardwalks over the sand dunes to access the sea.
The route involves mainly wooden beach boardwalks, recommended to wheelchair users with an assistant due to slight slopes. Access to the water itself is limited due to sand stretch between the end of the boardwalks and the water and is dependent on the sea conditions. Access to the water and swimming is provided at the Apšuciems beach (floating wheelchairs should be booked in advance by phone +371 26132761, with a pick-up at the Apšuciemas School). Accessible toilets are available at the centre of Kolka, Roja beach, Mērsrags beach, Engure beach, Ķesterciems beach, Apšuciems beach, Klapkalnciems beach and Kupskalni beach. Assistance for wheelchair users strongly recommended for Plieņciems nature path due to several steep ups and downs and might be limited to access the viewing platform on the Ēvaži steep coast due to steep slope.
