Originally founded in 1913 as a cinema, this venue was amongst Riga’s leading cultural sites in he early 20th century, sporting a large number of seats for its time – 250, thus gaining the right to screen premieres of many notable films. Later being expanded to accommodate more than a thousand seats in the 1920s, the building fortunately avoided destruction in the Second World War. After being shuttered following the Soviet Union’s collapse, the Palladium was re-opened in 2011 in its present capacity as a concert hall, able to accommodate audiences up to 2000 people, making it the largest such venue in all of the Baltic region.
Wheelchair entry from Pērses street. Although no is elevator currently functional, the building has all the requisite access ramps and informative signs for accessibility. No parking lot has been set up for invalids. There is a disabled toilet, but there is no sign and the toilet is missing one handle.
