The Rustupīte River flows out of Lake Bilskas and later flows into the Kamalda River. The average transparency of the lake water is 1.5 m. It is characterized mainly by a muddy bottom, with an average depth of 2.8 m during the summer low water period. The average depth at the ends of the lake is around 2.0 m, while in the middle it ranges from 2.8 to 3.4 m. The deepest point is 3.8 m.
A walking trail has been created at Lake Bilskas. At the beginning of the trail, there is a rest area, a platform by the lake, which can be used for fishing, including by people in wheelchairs. The entire trail is made of wooden planks, but it is not recommended for people in wheelchairs to use the entire length of the trail; only the beginning section is safe to use. To access the boardwalk, you currently have to cross a lawn, which is relatively flat, but you may need a little help from an assistant if you are using a manual wheelchair. There are fishing spots by the lake that can also be used by people with mobility impairments. The platform can also be used for recreation by people who use walkers or crutches, as there are steps.
