Description:
The trail stretches along the picturesque coast of Ungurpils Mill Lake, which is one of the Aloja County nature pearls. There were as many as 12 floating islands in the lake at one time, but over the time they have grown together with the coast and nowadays are only three left floating in the lake.
It is suggested to start the walk with climbing the watching tower (not accessible to wheelchair users), that opens a nice view on the lake and park landscape, and then continue the way to the wheel-track – nature cognitive class in the manor park nearby, which stretches along the lake and the 14th century castle wall ruins.
The wheel-track is a wooden bordwalk with a number of platforms with information on the history of Ungurpils, the Mill Lake, the trees and bushes in the park. The wheel-track is one-way, however, the more active hikers may continue the way along the other paths in the park, as the Ungurpils Park itself is 5,6 hectares large.
There is also a small sports ground and open-air stage near the watching tower.
Accessibility
Might be few broken or damaged planks on the track. At some stretches the width between planks reaches 3cm. Cycling and skiing is possible along other park paths.
Facilities
Accessible WC – at the Ungurpils Entrepreneurship Support Centre – library – SALA, during working hours. Watching tower is not
