The grand castle building, considered by architectural historians to be one of the undisputed pinnacles of Baltic Art Nouveau style architecture, was completed in 1912, based on the design by Riga-based German architect Otto Wildau.

While the interior areas may present accessibility challenges, the garden remains open to all visitors. It features flower displays, interactive elements for children, and whimsical references to Alice in Wonderland.

Description

When planning your visit to the castle, please note that there are currently no designated parking spaces for visitors with mobility impairments. General parking is located downhill, and the access road includes asphalt-covered slopes of up to 24 degrees. If you require parking closer to the castle, it is kindly asked that you contact our staff in advance to make arrangements.

At present, there is no ramp or elevator access to the castle or spa buildings. Entry to both requires using stairs. The toilet is located in the nearby Park House. However, it does not have handrails, is not wide enough (no accessible toilet at the moment) and includes a step of up to 12 cm at the entrance. The spa is located on the ground floor (0-floor) of the castle and is accessible only via stairs, there is no elevator.

Please note that tactile guidance systems, such as Braille signage, raised print, guiding paths, or other tactile orientation elements are not currently available.

There are some accessibility elements planned for the future like temporary outdoor toilet (2025) and a tactile print of the castle.
