The late Classicist style Räpina Mäemõisa manor house, popularly known as Sillapää Castle, was built in the mid-19th century. The central part of the originally built house and the side wings were two stories high, connected by single-story galleries. The back of the building is adorned with four Ionic columns and a portico with a triangular pediment. In 1924, the predecessor of the horticultural school began operating in the building. The manor house was rebuilt as a full two-story building in 1937–1938.
Today, the manor houses the Räpina Local History and Horticulture Museum, Räpina Music School, and Räpina Folk School.
Description:
The castle garden is a pleasant place for a walk; the pathways are flat and covered with loose gravel, and it is possible to find resting places along the way. The garden also has different levels connected by stairs.
Restrooms are located both at the Räpina Cultural Center (level access from the back of the building near the disabled parking spaces) and at the castle museum, where a ramp leads from the exterior door to the elevator at the opposite end of the building. The elevator provides access to the museum floor.
