In the autumn of 1920, on the initiative of the head of the Latvian Red Cross, Jānis Jankovskis, the first School of Merciful Nurses in Latvia was founded – the present Red Cross Medical College of Riga Stradiņš University, thus laying the foundations for nursing education in Latvia. The three-storey brick building, designed by architect Aleksandrs Klinklāvs, is intended not only as a nursing school, but also as a health care centre for children. The building has maintained its intended status as a medical school throughout its existence. Today, the building has the status of a cultural monument of national importance.
There is no lift and the toilet is not adapted. The rooms are spacious, but you can only go to the ground floor. There is a stairlift to get to other floors, but not sure about its functionality.
