Mustvee is a town in the northeastern part of Jõgeva County, on the northwestern shore of Lake Peipsi. It is the largest settlement on the Estonian side of Lake Peipsi and the administrative centre of Mustvee Municipality. Mustvee is also referred to as the “capital of Lake Peipsi.”

There are many activities at the beach, especially in summertime.

Description

Upon arriving you can park on the street (no designated parking spaces) or at the main parking lot for visitors of the beach. The beachside is surfaced with smooth paving stones and asphalt. The sculpture is located on a grass-covered area, as are the outdoor gym, seating areas, and the beach in general.

Nearest accessible toilet is inside Mustvee café. There is about a 10 cm threshold, but another entrance, the staff is helpful and in summer time there is a terrace open.

Also, there is a viweing tower for kids and a ground-level outdoor fountain where water jets spray up from a circular on a stone-paved surface where everyone can play. For boat owners, the harbour has a fixed (permanent) quay and floating pontoons, as well as two slipways and a harbour building. The fixed quay is 114 metres long.

Tauno Kangro’s sculpture “Kalevipoeg Bringing Boards (Planks)” has been located on the Mustvee beach since 2023. A statue of Kalevipoeg carrying an armful of boards has a hedgehog squatting on top of them.
