Object list
Mulgi Experience Centre is located in the former Sooglemäe farm complex in Mulgimaa. The centre is a Mulgi landmark and bears the identity of Mulgi people. It is an architectural attraction, a museum, a centre for organising various events and a Mulgimaa information centre, as well as a sales centre for local products and services. The exhibitions and events convey the essence of Mulgi people and their heritage.
Description
When visiting the Mulgi Experience Centre, visitors with mobility impairments are advised to use the designated upper hillside car park. There is a doorbell at the entrance gate, and staff can open the pedestrian gate upon request. The path from this upper parking area to the entrance is a hardened surface path, which may be uneven in some places. It ends with a section paved with cube stones and cobblestones.
From the main lower car park, access to the manor house is available via a ramp next to the main entrance stairs, which is more convenient for visitors with strollers. However, these ramps are too steep for independent use by wheelchair users. The exhibition building is equipped with a lift providing access to the second floor. The centre has been developed with the principles of design for all in mind as far as possible. The exhibitions are primarily interactive, while traditional elements and original historical features have been preserved and highlighted. As the museum describes itself:
“One of the foundational ideas behind the Experience Centre is that it is never finished: the content is interactive and features exhibitions that are continuously developed and renewed.”
Visitors with special needs may request assistance from a designated staff member in advance to help them explore the exhibition. Both the manor house and the exhibition building include accessible toilets, which also serve families with young children. These restrooms are equipped with baby changing tables and handheld showers.
Please note that tactile guidance systems such as Braille signage, raised print, guiding paths, or tactile orientation elements have not been implemented.
