Built in 1863 and designed by the Baltic German architect Ludwig Bohnsted, today’s State Opera, originally the Riga First theatre, can welcome up to 952 listeners into the Grand hall, as well as accommodating a further 241 guest in the New hall, designed by J. Gertmanis and opned in 2001. Being an important cultural venue, the State Opera IS accessible to invalids, through a side entrance next to New Hall, which is equipped with an elevator, a customized toilet appropriate for wheelchair-users, and several parking lots nearby. Seating for invalids (with price discounts) available at box 4. Notice refferable in advance.
