This 21-floor office building, today housing the Academy of Sciences, is considered the the earliest example of high-rise architecture in Latvia. Built from 1951 to 1958, it was intended as an educational center for improving the management of in Soviet Latvia’s collective farms, also housing two conference halls, training laboratories, an exhibition area, plus a 320 suite hotel at the spire.wheelchair entry from the courtyard, as indicated by plaques. The path leading to the access ramp is sloped and bumpy.The ramp itself might prove inconveniant, as it has no railing for stable ascent. A bell button can be used to request aid, if prior notice given. The building is equipped with an accessible toilet (4th floor). Elevator access up to 14th floor. Observation platform in the spire platform only reachable by staircases. In general, the Academy is accessible, but requires an assistant’s help. No invalid parking lots are available.
