Jūrmala Open-air museum

Museum features a coastal fisherman’s farm from the late 19th and early 20th centuries with its buildings – a living house, a barn, a net hut, a fish hut, a sauna and other structures. The buildings have been brought to the museum from various fishing villages in Jūrmala and Kurzeme. The museum also houses a collection of anchors and fishing boats, and in the rope-winding workshop – the richest collection of rope-winding tools and materials in Latvia. The collection includes 49 sailor’s knots, samples of various ropes, cords, rope-winding carts, etc.

Wheelchair users are recommended to visit the museum with an assistant, as the ground surface might be uneven and somewhere loose (soil/sand/grass) – requires additional effort, but is manageable.

Electric wheelchair users can also try to drive part of the nearby Ragakāpa nature park trail.
