Pärnu Independence Square is located right in the heart of the city and is directly connected to the site where the Republic of Estonia was declared (23 February 1918, on the balcony of the former Endla Theatre). It is an open and modern urban square suitable for various ceremonies, while also functioning daily as a classic city square. The style is minimalist, emphasizing the historical context. On a hot summer day, the illuminated fountain along the central axis of the square offers refreshment.
Janno Poopuu / City Artist of Pärnu.
Description:
Both directions of Aia Street and the alley will be brought to the same level following the shared space principle, making the alley more accessible for pedestrians, ensuring equal use of the area for all road users, and encouraging vehicles to reduce their speed.
The square is accessible from all sides, and the Manifesto to All the Peoples of Estonia is also available in braille for blind visitors. Parking at Ringi street, but no designated parking places.
Nearest toilet in Pärnu bus station.
