Established in 2018 at Jelgavas street 5, Olaine the First World War history trail has ever since been welcoming visitors, tourists and other guests eager to learn about the war that largely shaped today’s Eastern Europe. Research on the events of the First World War in the Olaine region is based on the information, objects and stories provided by local residents, history enthusiasts, museum visitors and others, all collected through the Olaine History and Art Museum. The First World War history trail has been created to promote local and international tourism in the broader region, including other Riga suburbs. It complements Latvia’s other WW1 tourist attractions, offering information about the importance of the Tīreļpurvs marsh and Olaine itself during the war. There are no markings on the boardwalk, the boardwalk tends to become slippery after rain. There are six braille stands on the route with descriptions of the events that took place around Olaine during the war. A tactile model represents the scars of the left in the area 100 years ago. The trail is also equipped with three spoken texts , informing of the surroundings of the trail, the situation in Olaine during the war, and the living conditions of the Latvian Riflemen.
