The Estonian National Museum was founded in Tartu in 1909 on the initiative and with the support of the nation – with the task to protect and develop the history and culture of Estonia. The museum offers adapted companion and guide services for visitors with special needs. Please notify us of your request at least five working days in advance by calling +372 736 3050 or emailing teeninduskeskus@erm.ee. The museum is wheelchair-accessible, including movement between different floors. Two wheelchairs and two rollators are available for use free of charge. If possible, please inform in advance of your need by calling +372 736 3050.

Description:

The museums has taken effort to increase accessibility. There are several audio described tours for visually impaired visitors, also available online; some of the audio and text files with audio description can be listened to and downloaded from the website Estonian language. The website contains short descriptions (alternative texts) for photo materials. There is no hearing loop in the exhibition halls or in the theatre and conference hall.
Guide dogs are allowed in the museum.

Accessible toilets are located in the foyers of both entrances, near the entrances to the restaurant and café, and in the Estonian permanent exhibition halls.

The area next to the Estonian National Museum (ERM) has a diverse terrain and limited accessibility, but it is possible to walk along different sections of the path.

There are enough marked parking spaces in front of the ERM. To access the area, it is recommended to start from the ERM parking lot and head west along a level asphalted road. Access from the north is more difficult due to a steep slope and a surface covered with cube stones.

Along the path, there are a few benches without armrests, and moving between different levels of the area requires using stairs. In some places, the ground is uneven.

There are no specific solutions for visually impaired visitors on the trail (a site map, tactile guiding paths, and tactile signs are not provided).
