During the Soviet times, the factory was used for manufacturing refrigeration equipment, secret submarine parts and in order to mislead the public, also non-functioning umbrellas and zippers. At its heyday in the middle of 1970s, the factory provided employment for almost 1,500 people, it had its own health centre with sauna and a pool, a canteen, it’s own artist and enough administrative premises to occupy several buildings.
Description
When arriving to Aparaaditehas you first need to park outside in a bigger parking lot where you can find one marked disabled parking spot. Since the Europark parking lot is gravel then we suggest that wheelchair users come with an assistant. From the parking lot you need to cross the road and then you enter court on a wide road and then you already see the shops that are a part of Aparaaditehas. When you enter the courtyard you will find shops, cafes and all kind of different places of interest. Visitors who are wheelchair users find that there is a wheelchair accessible public toilet in the courtyard in indoors what you can find by a signage called “Puhvet”.
